There's no denying it --
The Maine had quite the year in 2011. They topped PureVolume's
weekly charts, had devoted fans battling it out in their
"Some Days" cover contest, and
dropped their latest album,
Pioneer, to mass acclaim. To thank the fans for helping them achieve this level of success, John O'Callaghan wrote up a lengthy thank you note to express the band's gratitude. Check it out:
The year 2011 has been one which will surely be etched in our brains for eternity. Thanks to you, our band was able to release our third full-length record. Hard to believe we've already released three of those suckers! Pioneer noiled down to tireless months of hard works, exhausting arguments, and a few tears along the way (not from me of course, I'm a man and men don't cry.) But we finally overcame and ultimately released it and I can't begin to explain how good it feels... I could honestly go on for another 2 hours or so, however I'd rather talk to you about it in person. Thank you so much for making these past five years the best days of my life. I am forever in your debt. Here's to another 5 years baby!"We'll second that notion. To read the statement in full -- and believe us, there's much more to be read -- head over to
