States are premiering their lyric video for "Right or Not" and it bares weighty influence from both old-school computer fonts and disco-inspired bubble letters. Sure, it's not the first two fonts you'd associate with the other, but it makes for a unique visual experience, and it works better than you'd expect it to. Multi-colored type-written lyrics accompany each verse, donning a sense of mystery against Mindy White's flawless yet eerie vocals, while lyrics soar in bolds and neons as the song explodes at each chorus. Of the song's concept, White shared with us,
"[It's] a song about looking back on something you've overcome and kind of digs at a couple of personal situations from my past. This was one of the first songs we wrote as a band, and it didn't make the EP cause the recording didn't turn out right in time. We finally got it sounding how we wanted when in the studio with Aaron Sprinkle."
"Right or Not" comes off the band's upgraded version of their Room To Run album, which dropped June 19 via Tooth & Nail and is available for purchase via iTunes.
