It's no secret that music can heal, and
Set It Off are here to remind us of that with the premiere of their "You Are Loved" demo. "This week, we have the opportunity to spread awareness about
Suicide Prevention Week (September 9-15)," says
frontman Cody Carson. "A couple years ago we lost a member of the SIO Family to suicide. It was one of the hardest things our band has ever had to deal with." Determined to remind each and every one of us that suicide is "a permanent solution to a temporary problem," this stripped down song truly tugs at the heart of the matter. Impassioned acoustics provide firm grounds for the song's powerful message to soar above, creating a piece that drips with a proud vulnerability while instilling a determined hope that all struggles will soon pass.
"When I was growing up, I was bullied quite bit, and the thought of suicide even crossed my mind. I have been in the shoes of those going through this form of depression," Carson told us. "My goal with this song is to show people that they are never alone. People need to understand that there are so many loved ones they would affect in such a huge way if they were to take their own lives. There is always someone to talk to and turn to, and if you think you have nobody, come to a show and talk to one of us. All these problems you are facing today will one day be gone. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. So please remember, you are loved."
"You Are Loved" comes off the band's iTunes deluxe digital version of
Cinematics, which they will be releasing on September 18 via
Equal Vision Records. In a continued effort to give back to deserving organizations, the band will be using this release as a means to donate funds and raise awareness for
VH1's Save the Music Foundation.
