Pierce The Veil's new song, "The First Punch," is aptly titled, considering the fact it hits you square in the face with a truckload of frantic energy and rapid percussion within the first three seconds of pressing play. Between fiery vocals and reeling guitar riffs, these boys have perfected the art of mixing emotions to create a track that's telling and impassioned, reaching and limitless. These elements become especially poignant in light of the tune's inspiration —the often conflicting aftermath of a relationship's end.
"[This song] is about re-uniting with someone after you've both decided that you should just be friends," frontman Vic Fuentes explained to us. "It's about losing all self control and letting your emotions guide you. It can make for an unhealthy relationship, but sometimes we let our emotions get the best of us. We co-wrote the music for this song with our good friend Tom Denney [formerly of A Day to Remember] in Florida. I always take at least one trip out there to write with Tom because our styles seem to work well together, plus it's one of the only times that we really get to hang out so it's always a good time!"
