When people think of the Atlanta music scene, images of Southern rap, rock, country or the blues are the first thing that jump out. However, indie pop duo star-splitter are showing there's a different side to the unofficial capital of the South. Featuring a sound that can be described as space-inspired, synth-driven soundscapes with a sweeping depth, Torin Degnats and Andi Rogers have curated a sound that is as futuristic as it is catchy. Today, we're premiering "Give Me Time," which will be released as part of the group's Afterglow single.
"Give Me Time" is my favorite song from the maxi single," Rogers explains. "During our initial songwriting attempts, Torin sent me several instrumental tracks at the same time and asked me to write lyrics and melodies for the ones that really spoke to me. At that point, I think he actually sent me four or five total, but the track that would eventually become 'Give Me Time' immediately spoke to me in a different way—like it had to be written to, and fast.
"At the time, I was dealing with the fallout of a super long-term relationship, which was simultaneously terrifying and empowering. So the idea of time, especially time wasted, was definitely on my mind."
star-splitter's Afterglow single will be released on September 18. You can pre-order the single here.
