Ghost Town fans (or "ghosts," as you'd say), this Ghost Town Tuesday is a special one. PureVolume has been following the band from their beginnings — we hosted their reveal and crowned them one of 2012's 10 best unsigned artists. In the following months, the Hollywood-based electro rockers were chased by labels before signing with Fueled By Ramen and are gearing up to release their new full-length, The After Party, next week (June 17), which you can pre-order digitally via iTunes and physically through the band's official site.
Today, we are ecstatic to premiere the album stream and track commentary in conjunction with our friends at AbsolutePunk and Property of Zack. Stream The After Party in its entirety above, and get some insight on "Acid," "That's Unsual (Jump)" "Carnival," and "You're So Creepy" below. (Find commentary on "Dracula," "Under Wraps," and "Black Moon" at AbsolutePunk and "Hocus Pocus," "W.F.F." and "I'm A Distaster" at Property of Zack."
"At the end of the day, we never want to tell someone what a song is saying or what it's supposed to say. That's the beautiful thing about music. It's a universal language that speaks to us all in different ways. We want people to take from the song and get from the song what they need. That's why we listen to music and that's why we make music. It's healing to our heart and our mind and our soul." -GT
We wanted to paint a crazy picture and take you on a wild technicolor ride with this song. It's a fun, quirky song that alters this reality.
"THAT'S UNUSUAL (JUMP)"
"That's Unusual" is about perception. Sure someone may have all these cool "things" or people may think you're "cool", but really at the end of the day, we are all the same. No one person is better than any other, and we can all see right through that fake shit. This song is about living "like it's your last night" and letting loose and enjoying the little things that really matter in life.
This song is about one of the realist pains you can ever feel as a person. Your first time ever giving all of your trust and love to someone with no wall built up from any previous hurt like that before, and them hurting you, and that raw pain you feel. We all experience this at some point in our lives. Whether it's with your first boyfriend or girlfriend, or with a friend or family member. It's a pain that is very real and that we can all relate to on some level as people.
"YOU'RE SO CREEPY"
This is is about Creepy Girls..duh!
