PREMIERE: Mad Caddies — "Down And Out"

Mad Caddies
are gearing up to release Dirty Rice, their first album in seven years (!) and first after the addition of pianist Dustin Lanker, formerly of Cherry Poppin' Daddies. Today, we are excited to premiere "Down and Out," the latest single off the upcoming album. The track proves Mad Caddies still have that magical touch when it comes to creating ska tracks, though it also shows a sense of maturity and knack for melodies. And Lanker's skills on the keys are prevalent.

"Down and Out' was a song that had been sitting in the "unfinished" pile for some time," Lanker admits, "but we kept revisiting it because we really liked the feel and sound of it. We had the opening section but couldn't figure out where to go with it from there, a frequent hurdle that kills plenty of good song ideas. Then one day we cracked it, and the rest of the song rapidly snowballed into existence. It was one of the last songs written for the album, and it gave us a boost to have a new song we were all excited about at the end of that long process. Our friend Logan wrote the lyrics, a seedy story that provides the grit in this otherwise pretty upbeat tune."

Dirty Rice is set for a May 13 release via Fat Wreck Chords and can be pre-ordered here. Mad Caddies hit the road today on a short tour. Check out the dates below.
