Norwegian-based rockers Iffy Orbit somehow managed to fuse their creative blend of psych rock into a video that serves as a perfect complement. Their video for "Slow Times" is a blend of what their interpretation of what an American and Norwegian prom would be like smacked together. The band's trippy, atmospheric sound helps accentuate that point and give a keener understanding to what growing up is like.
"'Slow Times' is a song that is as old as our band itself," they say. "We wanted a live action music video with a story for this track, so we got in touch with one of Norway’s most talented up-and-coming directors Petter Holmsen (who previously directed the video for 'In Balance'). He listened to the song, and it took him back to the middle-school prom.
"The Norwegian prom is way less flashier than the American prom. It’s always in an odd, unfitting place, it’s winter and it’s minus -20 degrees Celsius. The suits are too big, the dresses have too big bust, the cool kids bring mouthwash as alcohol and there’s a lot of stiff dancing. Middle school prom is a Norwegians first clumsy step into adulthood, and that is a lot of what our upcoming album is about.”
