PREMIERE: Gringo Star — "Rotten"

If Gringo Star could be counted on for one thing — besides its genre melding sound — is their knack for creating entertaining music videos. For their latest single, "Rotten," the brothers Furglueles are at it again. The band has toured with the likes of Wavves, Best Coast, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and fellow Atlantans The Black Lips, and its easy to hear how these bands all blend together sonically. We're premiering their clip that sees the Atlanta-natives playing in a basement with little light, that adds to their brand of moody indie rock.

"'Rotten' to me, is about not letting societal standards prevent you from doing or expressing how you want and not waiting till it's too late to do what you love," Nick Furglueles says of the video it's about an establishment designed to keep people in check, and dismantling that establishment.

"We were on tour out West and dropped 20 bucks into a slot machine and won the jackpot. We were then able to buy some of the studio gear that we've been eyeing for years and were able to get the sounds we've wanted on the record. It's all analogue and a good portion recorded to tape.”

Gringo Star's The Sides and In Between is out August on Nevado Music.
