Equipped with nothing more than a fold-up chair and an acoustic guitar, O'Brother's singer Tanner Merritt takes over an abandoned swimming pool in this acoustic video for "Poison!" Thanks to the vacant pool's natural acoustics, Merrit's chilling vocals effortlessly echo off the graffiti-stained walls and linger in the dank air, making it impossible not to take key note of the video's incredible setting.
"We shot it in an underground pool in the basement of a venue called The Rave in Milwaukee, Wisconsin," Merritt revealed to us. "Because the pool is empty and in a concrete underground room, it has the craziest natural reverb and delay. As soon as we heard it we decided to film a song there. We were told by the staff that the pool room was haunted because someone has drowned there. We thought 'Poison!' was thematically appropriate and fit the mood of the room."
From its sinister back-story to its incomparable natural elements, The Rave certainly brings forth a gorgeous yet unsettling layer to this already potent tune. "Poison!" comes off the band's latest album, Garden Window, which is available now via iTunes. Check out the video, and if it leaves you itching to see these guys live, then take note they'll be heading to Europe this summer for the Reading & Leeds festival before embarking on a US tour with Circa Survive in September.
