Metallica and Lou Reed's collaboration album, Lulu, is approaching like creeping death (...sorry), and adding to our flabbergastedness is the arrival of the first full song, "The View." After about two minutes of what sounds like spoken word poetry by Velvet Underground frontman Reed, James "HeeehhhYEAH" Hetfield chimes in out of nowhere for a couple bars, and then...ah, hell. Just listen to the thing and help us make sense of it:
The View by Lou Reed & Metallica
Coda: When Reed starts to dig into some vocal grit later on, that's sweet. And the band has some seriously heavy tones going for 'em -- definitely more Death Magnetic than St. Anger.
