Metallica is set to curate and host a weekend-long music festival they're calling the
Orion Music + More Festival. And as it would appear from the lineup, Metallica are closet indie-rockers? Believe the hype, because this lineup is not only indie-friendly, it's practically dominated by the genre. We're talking
Arctic Monkeys,
Modest Mouse,
the Gaslight Anthem,
Best Coast,
Cage the Elephant -- and that's just the footnote versions. Metalheads, there is a major perk, though. The band plans to perform both their self-titled Black Album, and their classic
Ride The Lightning, all the way through. There will also be [as they've explained it]
“a lifestyle element showcasing the band’s individual interests," which will allow fans to interact with each of the band members. And as far as location, where else could such a monstrous -- and kind of surprising -- festival take place other than Atlantic City, NJ? Clear your calendars for June 23-24, grab your pre-sale passes here, and stay tuned for the final lineup as more band are announced.
