Underground hip-hop phenomenon Mason is ready to make the jump to the big leagues thanks to his hard work, techno-infused beats, and a few good friends. Yesterday he released his new EP, When Pigs Fly, which was produced in part by The Ready Set and features the genre-hopping track "She's Like Rain."
From its glitzy coating to its hip-hop core, "She's Like Rain" seamlessly blends the worlds of pop, techno, house and hip-hop for an effort that's as radio as it is street and as melodic as it is rough-around-the-edges. “When Pigs Fly is ripping some of the sickest electro and house beats around,” Mason says of the EP. “It’s different than anything else out there right now."
You can now grab the full EP as a free download, and if you like what you hear, be on the lookout for his upcoming sampler, set to release later this month through music-forward clothing line Glamour Kills. The sampler will be released for free, and will feature Mason's collaborations with The Ready Set which were not included on the WPF EP. You can also catch him as a featured guest on Hollywood Ending's new single, "Don't Let Me Down," which drops via iTunes on Tuesday [August 14].
Still want more? You're in luck, because his exhaustive release schedule will also include his first full-length album, expected out later this year. For now, spin "She's Like The Rain" and keep your eye on this rising talent.
