Kings of Leon's Jared Followill and
Mona's Nick Brown were moved to create their side project,
Smoke & Jackal, in the way most creative unions come to be — with a shared passion [for rhythm, in their case] and a few bottles of good wine. Now, months after their initial collaboration resulted in the twinkling new single, "No Tell," the duo are gearing up to drop their debut EP,
EP1. The six-track collection is slated for an October 16 release via
RCA Records, and earlier today, BBC 1 Radio's Zane Lowe unveiled "No Tell," immediately declaring it the "Hottest Record in the World."
"Coming together just worked," says Followill. "I think it's because we took such an easy approach to it, we didn't bring any egos to it." Brown agreed, stating "It was all about tone and vibe and what felt right in that moment... not second guessing, just having fun in that moment." Spin the song, check out the album art [above] and tracklisting [below], and keep an eye out for "No Tell"'s companion video clip, set to premiere soon.
