North Carolina based singer/songwriter Jon Lindsay combines futuristic visuals with timeless pop hooks in the premiere of his multi-dimensional new video, "Oceans More." Directed by Mortimer Jones, the video plays out like Guitar Hero for space aliens, capturing the essence of digitized personas and space-age backdrops while integrating the essence of live performance. "Adam and his team immediately suggested the cutting-edge 3D mapping/Xbox camera/infra-red technology we ended up using, and after seeing some test shots, we liked it immediately," recalls Lindsay. "I'd be lying if I said I had any kind of grasp on exactly how this was shot, but from my end of the camera, it looked tricky for sure."
The complex visuals add a unique aide to the song's own varied approach. Psychedelic backdrops swirl behind Lindsay's keen pop sensibilities and fluorescent lights shine over catchy rock hooks, bringing a slight electro-pop tinge to the dominantly melodic tune. "The song itself plays with the notions of bleak space — both emotional and musical — contrasted with intense blasts of emotion," Lindsay adds. But how does he think the video team represented his jam? "I think they nailed it. Thanks dudes!"
"Oceans More" is the lead single off Lindsay's latest LP, Summer Wilderness Program, which dropped June 26 via Bear Hearts Fox Records. Check out the video's premiere, and get ready for a fresh batch of tunes from Lindsay, as he is currently finishing up his third LP, slated for January 2013.
