Hello Hollywood Explain Unexpected Breakup [PV Q&A]

Hello Hollywood are streaming their new album The Loveliest on PureVolume, which also happens to be the Arizona band's final outing together. Here, vocalist Mike Wolf talks it out.

PureVolume: What are you guys all about?
Mike Wolf: With our new record The Loveliest, I think we truly found our goal as a band for the first time -- we strive to spread love and enjoyment; the idea that we are all one and we are all beautiful. It's a shame we couldn't stick around long enough to spread it more. We spent a lot of time last summer traveling around and playing gay pride events. It helped focus our attention on spreading nothing but the idea of equality. And that's what this new record screams.

PV: Are you guys really done after this music, though? What happened?
MW: At the beginning of this year I was forced to relocate to Chicago. It became impossible for us to continue as a band while the rest of the guys still lived in Phoenix. We're disbanding after this record but we still all love each other and there is no bad blood. Steven has joined a new band called In It For Storms, I'm in the studio working on a solo project I'm really excited about, and I think the rest of the guys all have projects in the works as well. Hello Hollywood is moving on, but better things are just around the corner.

PV: How do -- or how did, I guess -- you describe your music to someone you just met at a party?
MW: I've struggled with answering this question at parties many, many times. I guess, now that I have time to sit down and think out my answer, I'd say "meaningful rock music with a pop sensibility."

PV: Who and what are your influences?
MW: We all pull from an insanely wide variety of different inspirations. But for myself, I'd say Rob Thomas, John Mayer, Ryan Tedder, and Lady Gaga. They are all phenomenal artists and vocalists and push me every day to strive for more.

PV: Who are some PureVolume up-and-comers you dig?
MW: Well I gotta throw it out to our guitarist Steven's new project, In It For Storms. They're a great rock band from Phoenix. Check them out! As well as our hometown buddies Crash Coordinates. We've been friends for a while and they deserve nothing but good things.
