In Memory of Davy Jones: Hear Our Favorite Monkees Covers

Today we heard the sad news that Davy Jones, member of legendary pop group The Monkees suffered a heart attack and died this morning, at the age of 66. The band was started for a television show, about a group like The Beatles, but soon the members began to ask for more control and creativity, and the band spawned into much more. To remember the legacy of Jones and the Monkees, we collected our favorite Monkees covers from around the internet, just for you.

The Polyphonic Spree "Porpoise Song"

Experimental rock band The Polyphonic Spree bring out the psych elements in this live cover of The Monkees' "Porpoise Song.

Coldplay "I'm A Believer"

If you don't want to listen to Chris Martin tell a long and rambling story about U2, skip ahead to about 1:50, to hear Coldplay doing a jangly, true-to-the-original cover of "I'm A Believer."

Os Chinchillas "I'm a Believer"

It may not be by a famous band, or, frankly, a band anyone has ever heard of, but we love this cover of "I'm a Believer" by Portugese psych-poppers Os Chinchillas.

If you like these covers you'll dig our favorite Adele covers list. Check it out here.
