New Atlantic Survive Toxic Blast!

Posted December 27, 2005

hey everyone!

here's an update from our livejournal (www.livejounal.com/users/newatlantic)... please add us if you're a member!

so we just got home from tour late last week... the shows w/ cartel, the working title, and terminal were pretty incredible! after those dates, we finally got to head out west and meet up w/ our friends in waking ashland & the fold! thank you to everyone out there who really made us feel welcome playing in an entirely new place... you're all amazing and we can't wait to come back to the west coast in march!

so, this past tour was quite the experience...
our exhaust on the bus cracked somewhere between denver & salt lake city, and apparantly we were all breathing in carbon monoxide for a few days... chris got the worst of it, and ended up getting really sick :( we got the exhaust fixed out in sacramento, but chris rode in waking ashland's van for the rest of the tour and we flew him home after the hollywood show... thanks again to waking ashland for helping us out, we love you guys!

since chris was on a flight home, we were forced to play acoustic in arizona, but it actually went pretty well... there was a ton of kids there, and usually people talk up a storm when a band they've never seen before is playing acoustic, but surprisingly everyone was all ears, so thank you soo much tempe... we can't wait to come back as a full band and make it up to you!

oh, so i forgot to mention on the way to arizona we stopped just on the border and got some food, etc. well, the bus wouldn't start for about 2 to 3 hours and we thought we were gonna miss the show, but this really nice guy ended up coming over and seriously spent a good 45 minutes to an hour helping us get it started... nonetheless, we made it to the show on time... so thank you Raul, you're the man!

okay, so after that happened we made the decision to leave the bus running and never shut it off... i mean, it made complete sense... if you have a problem starting something, you can't have that problem anymore if it's already started??? so we basically left it running for about 3 days (while still adding gas & oil), it's a tank i tell ya... haha, anyways we had a 35 hour nonstop drive back home to jersey from tempe and we made it home in about 48 hours, not w/ out problems of course!

8 hours from home, out in ohio, our exhuast broke again letting fumes into the cabin! our personal repairman dave carlson tried to patch it up w/ aluminum tape, and we then discussed the burning temperature of duct tape... but since the exhaust had split completely in half, we just said screw it and drove home in the freezing cold w/ the windows open in our sleeping bags >:O no one planned on missing christmas! oh, and i set a personal record of 14 hours & 800 miles on the ride home, driving through new mexico, texas, oklahoma, and into missouri.. as you can see, i'm quite proud of myself :)

yeah, so that was our crazy month of december... actually a lot of fun! haha, so we'll be taking january off to write & then record some new songs in february w/ vince ratti who just did the valencia record... we're pretty stoaked! can't wait to get you all some new music! we should have some demos online before we leave for tour again in march w/ waking ashland, sherwood, this day & age... after that tour, we split off and head west to meet up w/ the "screaming is for babies tour" (the starting line, copeland, gatsby's american dream, cartel) in los angeles and open for them on a two week run... how often do you get to play w/ 4 amazing bands in one night??? that tour is gonna rule!

soooo anyways, thank you all so much as always for everything... we wouldn't be writing music & fighting off toxic fumes if it wasn't for you! hope your having yourselves a great time around the holidays and please have a fun & safe new year!
