Formed "over some silverware and a tablecloth”, Avalon Landing played its first show, as a trio, on January 15th 2011 at The Bunkhouse Saloon in Las Vegas, Nevada. The line-up consisted of piano/vocalist Josh Rabenold, guitar/vocalist Mike Vargovich, and guitar/vocalist Clayton Cobb. Shortly thereafter, drummer (and yes, vocalist) Ryan Martin was added and the band recorded a self-produced demo of four original songs in their hometown of Buffalo, New York.
Returning to Las Vegas in March, Avalon Landing was featured twice on the Neon Reverb Music Festival at prominent local venues The Griffin and Beauty Bar. In May, Josh and Mike were seen performing as a duo at the 18b Music Festival in Las Vegas. The summer of 2011 saw the band officially moving out to the “Entertainment Capital of the World” where they have been seen playing at such venues as House of Blues, The Palms, M Resort, and Palace Station.
