What's up!
Everyone's favorite Negative Space member named "Britain" with long emo-esque hair that is in his face and provides heavy blindspots while driving and eats tacos here!
I love South park, and I was pretty darn excited for the new season. The first episode so far was pretty funny, but man....I feel pretty bad for Indiana Jones (check out the new ep at www.southparkstudios.com).
Flyers haven't won a game yet (Shut up Faith. They will, you just wait), and the news is getting boring.
DHS Fest is happening AGAIN this year, but it won't be until March. However, we've already done some crazy preparation. We have the following bands confirmed for it: Us, Sugarcoat, Kingsfoil, Hierosonic, Safari So Good, and Crimson Diamond. How cool of a show is that going to be?! All of my favorite local bands to see live, besides us anyway, because I never really see us live.
Random negative space fact: Did you know that when i first auditioned for the band, and the guys took a vote to see if I should make it, Rick voted "no"? Psh. Thank God he was outvoted, and I still make fun of him for it :)
We have a free show at Millersville coming up on THURSDAY. We'll be playing acoustic, too. Check out our schedule and come hang out with us!
The Phillies look like they're going to the world series. This is good for Josh, who had suffered through years of disappointing seasons. About 80% of me wants them to win it all, but the other 20% of me wants the Flyers to be the first team to bring a championship to Philly after all of these years.
Random Negative Space fact 2: Jimmy likes everything orange. Whenever we go on the road, it shows. He has an orange hat, an orange pillow, an orange bag, shoes with orange on them, and whenever he gets a slushy, he gets orange (His 3 favorite ingredients: Sugar, Ice, and orange).
We will be on the radio in Maryland tomorrow. We'll be on WLOY Loyola Radio at Loyola College. Thanks to Rudy for hooking us up with her brother who works there. We'll be on between 7pm and 9pm, and you can listen on www.wloy.org
My mom bought me a banana cream pie the other day. I ate it all. I was happy.
Random Negative Space fact 3: Whenever we're on the road, I spend the most time in the hotel getting ready for a show. Jimmy is in a close second, and Rick gets ready in 10 minutes. With the hair products that Negative Space uses, we are responsbile for about 6% of global warming.
We'll be playing in Maryland on Friday with Loving the Lie, whom you might've seen with us at Fat Daddy's a bit ago. We'll be playing at Fletchers, and all of the details are on our page. We're excited :)
I'm looking to get us into Ohio, including some areas in Dayton and Cleveland. Know any cool rooms or bands in the area? Let me know!
I started a side project here of late. People have been giving me some flack because I'm always so busy with Negative Space that I probably won't have a TON of time to devot to it, which is probably true. But, once I get a page going I'd love for you guys to check it out. Think heavier Negative Space but with some more groove, keyboards and a chick singer. In other words, think "Negatve Space" with more balls but somehow at the same time, not :) We don't have a name yet, but my sister Briana is singing for it and she totally rocks. NOTE TO ALL OF MY BAR GUY FRIENDS: There is a 5 feet rule in effect with my lil' sis: You can talk to her, but no closer than five feet or else you will be pimp slapped.
Random Negative Space fact 4: For every rehearsal we have, every time with meet with the band van at a given spot before a show, every time we have a band meeting or management meeting, and every time anyone drives separately to a show, someone is always at least 5 minutes late. I'm talking EVERY time. Everyone in the band goes in phases. Lately, it's been Mark. It was Rick fora while there, and I was guilty for a bit. Usually, Jimmy is the first person everywhere we go.
Hmmm...This blog is starting to get pretty long. Oh well. I feel like rambling some more!
I just saw on the news that Ringo Starr is saying that after October 20th, he will no longer be accepting fan mail and won't be signing anything for fans anymore. I don't think I'll ever be THAT famous, and even if I was, I'd sign EVERYTHING for the rest of my life. I haven't gotten a letter in the mail in a while that didn't say one of the following:
"There is a warrant for your arrest..". (Don't worry, I got it taken care of!)
"Credit billing"
"Insurance billing"
"Thank you for joining the N'SYNC fan club!" (just kidding)
Someone should write me a letter! Also, feel free to send any gifts (Like socks, CD's, and especially money). I'll respond - promise!

Random Negative Space fact 5: In the many years that Negative Space has been around, we've only had a member miss ONE show due to an illness. That was right before I joined the band and it was a show in Boston. Mark had really bad diare....I mean, he was sick in the stomach, so the rest of the band took turns playing bass and they pulled it off as a four piece. The general rule of the band is that if you can stand, you're playing the show. That's the only crap thing about playing in a band. I played two shows once in Cleveland, Ohio with pneumonia. If you're fellow musician or on-stage performer, you will understand how much that really sucked!
Okay. This blog is entirely too long. If you're still reading right now, I'm very sorry. You know, a great man once said,....nah, F**k that....let's end this with a really funny video. I heart Jim Breuer. Take care everyone.
Love, Britain NS

Hi!
Mr. Britain here. Who the hell is that Gary guy that keeps blogging on our site? I'll do my best to write a blog that isn't quite so random, but I probably won't be able to keep up with the entertainment value.
After months of releasing a CD, touring nonstop and doing a whole bunch of business crap, we finally have a little bit of breathing room before we kick it all off again. We have some down time here, and it has been much needed as we were all running on all cylinders for quite some time. Don't worry - We're still workin, though! We've put a LOT of effort into writing some new tunes. As many of you musicians know, writing songs isn't something you can force. You'll go through times where you can't write worth crap, and others where you can bust out 2 or 3 songs in one night. Fortunately, we all seem to be hitting a good stride lately and have been sending out idea, after idea, after idea, and we're pretty happy with what we're coming up with. Our most recent song called "Between the lines" we debuted at Fat Daddy's and we had a good response for it. We also have some stuff coming that will make you turn your head, look at the stage and make sure it's still Negative Space playing :) Don't worry, we haven't gone country or anything, but our new stuff is definitely different but we feel for the better. I can definitely tell that the guys, including myself, have all grown as songwriters.
We're also spending time booking our next tours and whatnot. We have some cool out of state stuff coming up that we're totally stoked about. We'll be back in Pennsylvania on the 31st to have our annual Halloween party with Random Allies and Instant Tranzmission - So this promises to be a pretty ridiculous show.
hmmm....trying to think of something cool to say... :)
I haven't seen any guys on unicycles lately, but I'm always on the lookout.
I guess this whole bailout situation I've been seeing on the tele and reading online is pretty intense. While the Negative Space myspace isn't where I should discuss my political views, I will say in a Mr. Hanky voice "SSSTTTOPPP FIGHTING!" lol Seriously, I've grown incredibly tired of our elected officials pointing fingers at each other instead of working together. No matter what party affiliation you are, you're going to have to work with the other side to get things done.
When it comes to the election, we're actually down the middle. Two guys lean one way, two the other, and another one hates both candidates with every inch of his soul. I'll let you figure out who's who :)
How come a lot of essays end with "A great man once said...."? I've always wondered about that. Hell, I'll give it a try.
Thanks for reading everyone! In closing, I'd like to say that I really appreciate you all. It's good friends like you that make it fun being in a band. You know, a great man once said "BRITAIN! WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM!" (Jimmy, 2001 after we were playing roller hockey and I checked him and made him split his pants and he was bleeding) :)

so here i sit in a lovely two bed hotel room n absecon NJ. it's almost 3pm, and judge judy is on. this is what rock-n-roll is all about!! out in front of the hotel - you can see the atlantic city skyline (must resist urge to spend all money) we've been in jersey since wednesday, and won't be home til sunday. wednesday was jenkinsons, and last night was jack's in avalon. both places are always great. tonight we're back at the marlin in beach haven, then tomorrow we finish up our mini tour of greater jersey i neast rutherford at park city. on this trip i'm rooming with britain, while josh, jimmy, and rick all cram into the other hotel room (uggh, who's sharing a bed i wonder) there are dvd players in these rooms - so britain broke out his impressive dvd collection (every recorded episode of south park, and about 6 movies) and i finally got to watch donnie darko. my brother had been telling me that it was a great movie, and he has really good taste and britain told me it was awesome - and i agree. i have to watch it again to really get everything that was going on. it's one of those films that makes you think a lot - i like that. we started watchin gattica last night, didn't finsih it yet though . . . with all this free time i'm also just about done with the book i'm reading right now (stephen king's desperation, anyone see the movie? how was it?) rick and britain have been working on some new original ideas, while josh is finishing up some others we have on the table, we're looking forward to playing some of them out in july. the new stuff seems to get better and better . . . and after the response to the new songs at we played at the chameleon i'm looking forward to hear what everyone thinks about these newest ones. oh yeah - before i go - britain and i are going to be starting a myspace e-team (kinda like a street team) so we need all your help - get in touch with us if you want more info . . . talk to you soon ;)
