Needless to say,
The NSW South Coast town of Ulladulla may not be famous for its thriving music scene, but that hasnt stopped local lads Needless To Say from having a crack at the industry mountain.
Playing a blend of melodic punk rock; the kind that flourished last decade and into the present before Emo became momentarily fashionable, Needless To Say pay heed to the likes of No Use For A Name, Bodyjar, Lagwagon and Strung Out.
Formed in the back end of 2002, singer / guitarist Tim Thompson, Guitarist James Chave-Dubois, Bassist Ben McInerney and Drummer Matt Leslie began writing and performing original material in their coastal town homes.
They started organising gigs at their local area before branching out and networking with bands two hours west in Canberra, and three hours north in Sydney.
The encouraging response they received lead Needless To Say to start recording in the studio of Tim their guitarist, and before long they had notched up eleven tracks and enough connections to get a small run of albums done.
The later stages of 2005 saw long-time friend Guy handed the singing duties to freshen up the feel of the group.
In 2005-06, NTS have played the Hopetoun Hotel, Excelsior Hotel & Lansdowne Hotel in Sydney, The Manly Youth Centre, Canberras Green Room, the Cambridge Hotel in Newcastle and even a mini-tour of South-East Queensland, sharing stages with bands including Parkway Drive, 28 Days, Something with numbers, Unpaid dept, Miles Away, Angelas Dish and many more.
More travelling and gigging is on the immediate horizon, while their new 5 track EP titled 'Villain' will be released and available at shows in the not too distant future. But for now, keep an eye out for these promising young punkers popping up at a venue near you.
