The story of Nameless Faces begins just over 2,000 years ago in a town five and a half miles outside Jerusalem. No, that isnt where the band was formed. That is where the Son of God named Jesus Christ was born. In order to explain who Andy, Chris and Jeremy are, one must understand who Jesus Christ is. To make Jesus Christ known, and celebrated, is why Nameless Faces exists. Our mission and purpose is not that we would be in the lime-light or that we would be in the spotlight, but that we would glorify God, says Andy.
In early 2002 you could find Chris and Andy in their college dorm room writing praise and worship songs on a guitar. This lead to playing coffee shops, art galleries, camps, retreats, and conferences. In early 2005, Jeremy was added to the praise and worship song writing duo. They had released their first album the same year, Songs From the Suitcase, which sold in excess of 3,000 copies independently. Now, that the trio was established as a band, even more opportunities to lead worship at camps and conferences came flooding in. Although, camps, conferences, and the like are a huge part of what Nameless Faces does, that doesnt begin to describe the role of the guys.
Their desire is to see people change, whetherthat change is meeting Christ for the first time, or being inspired to go back to their world and make a difference. Because the band leads worship at many camps and conferences, they get to spend a considerable amount of time with students. We love spending a week, getting to know the students and their lives, Chris states. My favorite part is seeing the least likely kid to encounter God, fall on his face before God. The guys hope to be a catalyst God uses to bring His peopleback to intimacy with Him. You can find them involved weekly with their local churches; whether that is leading worship, fixing the house of an elderly woman, or helping a friend move. What ever it may be, says Chris, we want people to see Jesus glorified in our lives.
Sonically, Nameless Faces is an electric mix of modern rock music with worship lyrics at its core. The band writes material, based on what they want to say to God. We write songs out of our own communication with the Lord, says Jeremy. Chris adds, We want something that sets us apart from every other band, besides just the way we play or how our songs sound, we want to promote something so needed. The band, every year, hosts a worship gathering/conference called Unify. Last years Unify06 substantially impacted the guys and their community. Hundreds of people merged into one building for one night for one purpose, with one heart and one mind, in worship of one God. It was incredible, Andy says. We are tired of observing quarrels, arguments, and people being treated poorly in the body of Christ. This event promotes unity among the many denominations the Christian church is made up of today.
Located in Wichita, KS, Nameless Faces desire is to travel nation-wide, world-wide, day after day promoting Jesus. They want to unite the youth, collegiate, and adult generations of today together to celebrateGod's love and His free gift of salvation that comes throughJesus Christ. No matter what we do, we want to promote Jesus who changes lives, says Jeremy. Whether that is by getting our music out to the hands of everyone possible or serving in every way we can. The Apostle Paul announces in Colossians 1:17, And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. This is the bands desire.
