Nailed Coil is a metal band from Tuusula Finland. The band was formed in November 2002 when Teemu Laakso and Aki Salmenoja wanted to start making music together.
However, a talented guitar player and a guy with a powerful voice needed backup. They knew two musically gifted guys Aaro Koponen and Eero Wuokko from earlier projects, and asked them to start playing metal music in a joint project. Nailed Coil was born.
The first recording sessions took place in the summer of 2003, and the first EP "Feed you Fears" was released. New songs were composed in autumn for the second studio session in the summer 2004. Nailed Coil also decided to make their first music video "Rise From The Dead".
The year 2004 started with a participation in a band contest "Ãäni & Wimma". Finals were not reached at that point, but the band got a lot of good experience and advises from Finnish top musicians. Summer holidays were spent recording and the second EP containing 5 songs got the name "Embodiment of Unconsciousness".
The second music video "Irreplaceable Soul" was filmed in 2005, and again in the warm and long summer nights Nailed Coil worked hard in the studio. The single "This Is My War" got released and shortly after the band decided to release the second guitarist Henri as well. Emil Pohjalainen took Henriâs place and was in the same tune from the beginning on.
In 2006 the Republic of Finland had planned to the majority of the guys some better actions than the band. Almost all of them completed their military service that year. Naturally, it was very difficult to organize gigs, so the band concentrated on training. Eero worked hard on the new songs, and everyone focused on the summer 2007 and on the NEXT BIG THING!
The next big thing for a band is of course an album. The studio acts started in June 2007 and by the end of the year the band had recorded the materials for their first full length album. In the late autumn 2007 the windy position as the second guitar player was again taken by a new member, Juissi Kosonen. Also Juissi is an old friend of the NC guys, and a very talented guitar player, singer and writer. The still unpublished album was named as "Trail of Yesterday".
In the year 2008 NAILED COIL went to learn the heavy scene abroad and played at the famous Slovenian Metal Camp festival. The gig was successful and several moshpits were seen. Many gigs were played all over Finland too until the record session next summer. NAILED COIL also made a promo "Hope" from three songs of the album with which the band would seek a record deal.
In the beginning of the year 2009 NAILED COIL shot their third music video from the song "Hands of a Killer", which stood out the most from the album. A DVD "The Full Blown Breakout" was compiled from e.g. their many filmed gigs and the official music videos. The band started to devote their energy even more in getting the record deal and recorded new music in the summer as promotional material. Thanks to the new writer the songs got also different kind of perspective and they were more versatile. Several interesting contacts have been made with record labels but no contract has been signed yet.
