Mr. Callisto was formed in 2000 when Julian and Phil Hoover started jamming with a bass player named Myles O'Mahony. They have added and lost other members throughout the years, but the original three members still remain. Mr. Callisto's influences include The Dave Matthews Band, Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, Radiohead, Bela Flec and The Flectones, Soulive, MMW, Galactic, Tower of Power, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, James Brown, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, Sly and The Family Stone, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Charles Mingus, The Meters, Ozomatli, Ray Charles, The Roots, Blackilicious, J5, The Monophonics, and Vinyl, among others. Mr. Callisto currently consists of Julian Hoover (guitar), Phil Hoover (drums), Myles O'Mahony (electric/stand up bass), Jeremy Underwood (alto saxophone), and Jonathan Smothers (vocals).
