There's a fine line between quirky expression and artistic brilliance.

And then, there are some musicians that hit you like a lightning bolt, perfectly blending the two.

Molly Marlette comes on softly, but leaves you completely turned around jaw dropped at her cutting lyrics, raw delivery and catchy pop sound. Combining subtle nuances from classic folk and an original mainstream approach to songwriting, the tiny songstress has already been spotlighted by YouTube as a top indie artist, racking up over 1 million views on her channel.

With influences from Judy Garland to Nico, Molly is coming into 2010 poised with the tools and talent to become a household name. "I want to make music that's meaningful yet playful. Thought provoking but still big and loud. She says of her truly unique sound. "Something you can shake a leg to."

The journey that landed Molly at the forefront of up-and-coming music is as poetic as the songs she writes. She worked relentlessly as a young artist and convinced her mother to embrace homeschooling so it would free up more time for practice and perform. From there, music school seemed like the best bet for Molly, until she dropped the homework for her own material a year later. "I didn't want a backup plan. I didn't want to have options. I'm just going to throw myself out there and that's what's going to happen."

After making that decision, the spunky 21 year old packed her bags for Nashville, got down to business and confidently pointed her ship in the direction of her dreams. Since then, she's sailed swiftly forward, leaving a trail of loyal fans and charmed executives along the way.

Molly has played tons of shows coast to coast, and recently, the red-haired beauty caught the eye of Michael Goldstone, the man behind Regina Spektor and The Veronicas, signing a joint venture with Songs Publishing. With a combination of heart-warming songs and a wonderfully endearing personality, Molly has sculpted her upcoming LP to make heads bop and wheels turn. "I'm very emotionally driven," she says of her writing process. "Writing has been such a wonderful way to get all these things out of my system. It's always been my way of communicating, but at the end of the day, the main ingredients need to be something you have to play again and say, "That's my song!"

As her career progresses, the California native remains focused on what's coming next. "A year from now I want to have taken the show on the road and reached as many people as humanly possible. I hope I find myself smiling and exhausted from doing so much of what I love." Molly has worked for this her whole life, and with the completion of her album on the horizon, she's about to reach the shore.
