Rock / Acoustic / Experimental
//Mike has been playing guitar, drums, and bass for the past seven years.
During those years, he has made brief appearances in several bands, but hasn't found a steady base. His first taste of stage life came when he was recruited into MiLoad to play bass guitar. Unfortunately, after a successful summer of shows, and just as the band was starting to pick up speed, the three older members went their seperate ways for college.
Next followed two short lived groups;
"Seventh Rising", (which Mike played lead guitar for) never quite kicked off, due mainly in part to clashing styles, personalities, and alot of inexperience.
"Smeared Black Ink" was born when Mike and his good friend Ryan met up with Rob C., who had recently moved from North Carolina, and was active with music in his hometown. Rob brought some things to the table that were new and interesting to the guys, and they decided to pick up where he had left off. Mike played drums for SBI. Some recording had started, but the guys quickly drifted apart for unknown reasons.
Lastly, Mike was again recruited on bass guitar for "The Everest", where he met back up with a member from Seventh Rising. The Everest had been playing as a two-man acoustic set for some time, and expanded to a 'full band', bringing in Mike, and Joey Ashford on drums. They played many local shows but lost steam in the fall and eventually parted.
Mike still occasionally records and jams with Joey, as well as Dan Meppelder, who is currently performing on his own as "6trung".//
