Mike Reeb's musical pilgrimage began with Jeremy Keen in late 1999 when the two formed Chicago's popular folk-rock outfit, Seventy Two Others. Hard to Find, the duo's final album, was released in March 2005 and mimics the 1960's style of Neil Young and The Byrds. In late 2005, Reeb left the big city but still performs as a solo artist and with his backing band (The Consequences) throughout the Midwest, supporting Seventy Two Others' Hard to Find and his 2004 solo debut, The Canvas EP.
One reviewer described The Canvas EP as "Sparse, bare-bones folk, wide open with simple construction. Collections like this are very special. They are demanding and time consuming, but ultimately the reward is ours." Mike's musical and song-writing influences include Damien Jurado, John Steinbeck, Elliott Smith, Bob Dylan, Douglas Coupland, Gillian Welch, and Wilco's Jeff Tweedy.
As a percussionist and drummer, Reeb has been featured on Andru Bemis' Singer, Benjamin Ezra's Our Old Selves Forgotten, Rachel Ries' For You Only, Tree By Leaf's Postcard from Rome, and The Verse's Love/War. Alone and with Seventy Two Others, he has shared stages with Denison Witmer, Miranda Stone, Brendon Massei, Tree by Leaf, Brad Yoder, Rachel Sage, Michael Heaton, Pete Krebs, Sleeping at Last, and Switchfoot.
