A bizarre, mountain-sized battle between brutal metal and atmospheric ambience, the sound of Mermaid In A Manhole could bring to mind two things: The apocalypse and opium dens.

Formed in late 2004 by former members of The Oval Portrait, the band knew that they wanted a new start from their old project, but weren't sure as to what direction they were going in and who would help them get there. Finally, they asked old friend Ryan Nardi (formerly of When All Is Lost and Dreadknock) to come by and see what they could do together, the first practice with whome shining a clear light on the path that they were meant to take..

Infusing styles of doom, black, and hardcore metal, Mermaid is like listening to the mood swings of a very over-worked and very manic depressive Angel of Death... Which isnt to say its all darkness and doom in the Manhole.. Lush, ambient soundscapes and layered trance-like dirges bring to the music all the colors of an LSD freakout.

Months of song-writing later, the 5 members are now ready to rejoin the outside world. Teaming up with their friends at Eyeball Records, they are ready to unleash their brimstone colossus on the world.. Songs that sonically resemble Armageddon and the black, cold silence that will follow...
