MELT-BANANA is a noise rock band from Tokyo, Japan. You may think they are no different than any other punk band, but their vocalist Yasuko Onuki and amazing guitarist Agata add a unique element to the overall sound. They've surprisingly found more success outside their home country.
MELT-BANANA began with Yasuko Onuki and Agata. Later in 1992, they joined with bassist Rika Mm'. In 1994, they signed with the British label Chocolate Monk. Their only release on Chocolate Monk was called "Cactuses Come in Flocks" and was distributed on cassette tapes. Later that year, they signed to a different label called Skin Graft and released "Speak, Squeak, Creak"; it was later followed by "Scratch or Stitch" in 1995. The band released "Charlie" in 1998 as well as a live album on John Zorn's label Tzadik that same year. "Teen Shiny" later followed in 2000.
MELT-BANANA is currently signed by A-ZAP Records. They're a label that solely puts out MELT-BANANA albums. Is MELT-BANANA still around today? Yes, they are very much alive, breathing, and making music.

Where can I get MELT-BANANA's recordings?
Download iTunes and search for "Melt Banana"; no hyphen (-).
Is this the real MELT-BANANA?
No, it's an account set up as a tribute to the band. I have a lot of respect for them and I thought that they deserve to have a PureVolume account.
