ah man, okay i finally added two more improvs and they are kinda fucked up and shitty, but they have their moments. so enjoy my at-long-last-finally-updated site.

joe, you silly boy, why do you listen to my music. there, the improvs at least, are downloadable. enjoy.

seems like forever since i wrote the songs up on here. it has been a few months. agggh i dunno.

okay, maybe not so much updating going on. but there are 2 new improvs on there as of today. and i finally figured out how to upload a pic...yay.

well improv 7 is loosely influenced by the song "somedays" by regina spektor (i.e. it uses the same chord progression in a couple parts)

and another thing to clear up (because some people have been confused); the reason so many of them are called "improv[insert number]" is because they are improvisations which means that it's not really a song, it's what i'm making up as i go along. my rule for improvising is no stopping halfway! you can tell when i've put an actual song on here because it has a title. and it has some musical structure. the reason i do so many improvs is quite possibly because i'm incapable/afraid of structure. w00t.

more later

school is so over bitches! i'm going to update this a lot over the next few weeks, hopefully

hey, look at the date: 666 ooooh satanic

i have two more improvs on the way if i can get them off my damn keyboard and onto the computer...soon, soon.

i guess because this is a place for my music, i also want to talk about other people's music that inspires me. right now i'm listening to some of regina spektor's earlier stuff, and it's just incredible. i am in awe of her music.

when i think of it, i don't know how my influences i actually HAVE for my piano music, though a lot of things i listen to DO inspire me even though they aren't piano music. i think if i had to name specific influences for my piano/keyboard stuff though i would say keith jarrett, jon brion, and of course my friends who write music; they're my day-to-day cause for inspiration (or jealousy... i'm not above it) ...but other than those, i don't know who else influences me. george winston and all of them don't, even though i supposedly sound like them. i've barely heard any REAL new-age music but apparently that's my style. according to people who know what they're talking about i guess.

other music that inspires me though is film scores. oh god, i love them. i can't get enough lately. i've been listening to the soundtracks to amelie, chocolat, and brokeback mountain a lot. my all time favorite is probably the land before time, but it's out of print so i don't own it. the only way i know it is from watching the movie, and it's been years since i did that. i would watch it again, just to hear the music, but it would probably make me bawl like a baby. oh, little foot.

yeah, i'll update soon i promise. things are really crazy but once the pace of everything slows down i'll have time. i have a couple little waltzes and a ballad-type thing and maybe another song but i won't get a chance to make decent recordings of them for a couple weeks.

if i could sing i would use my voice oh so creatively and maybe i'd even write lyrics...can you imagine what that would be like.
