I wanted to personally say hello and let everyone know that we've just finished our third piece of an ever challenging musical puzzle. This ep of six brand new tracks will be available to your ears very soon. I'm so excited to share this chapter of our musical journey with all of you.
Personally, I feel it's our best work yet and also a taste of what is to come. We recorded the drums and bass live at this fresh little gem of a studio in Los Feliz, CA called Sonora Recorders. What an amazing joint. The studio was packed with obscure vintage gear that made my mouth water. The owner had to get me a bib for fear of shorting out his priceless circuitry! Some of the drum tracks were recorded with a Helios Side car straight from London. This vintage recording console was used in the making of the Who's Quadrophenia. Jay and I suffered mild cardio infarctions upon hearing this. I also got to play a real deal mellotron, which was used in one of the tunes. These instruments are so interesting. Check it out online. If you love musical equipment you'll enjoy the details of this bizarre invention. The rest of the ep was concluded at MT Studios in Burbank. Long time friend Matt Thorne's Zoo of sounds. We also had a cellist come in and lay down some string parts. Tina Guo is a brilliant musician from the LA area and we were privileged to have her guest on the record. Tina is a world renowned classical cellist with perfect pitch. It was a unique adventure recording her. I would just hum the melodies i heard for the string part and without missing a beat, she would play them back to me perfect. Check her out here: www.tinaguo.com. She is a true talent and I hope to work with her and her friends on the next record. It was a wonderful and challenging experience making this collection of songs. Some of the new songs are up on purevolume, myspace, virb etc. site now so take a listen. A physical copy will be available at our live shows as well. We will keep you posted as to when and where you can purchase the ep.
As of right now we are gearing up our live show and getting ready to tour. We are all so excited to get out and see all of you at our up-coming shows and tours.
