smokestacks pollute at night
blog post
it's true. companies wait to run their smokestacks until the middle of the night, when most of you are peacefully asleep in your beds, and you can't see the smoke so you don't complain about it. out of sight, out of mind, right?
we played NYC last night, and had the most harrowing day of our lives . . . sean and ryan had never been to Manhattan, so we drove in early to "check it out." unfortunately, no one told us that you can't get two consecutive parking spots ANYWHERE in the City to park a van/trailer set up. needless to say, we ended up a mindless, drooling mob driving aimlessly somewhere in Brooklyn (i think we finally stopped near Prospect Park to regroup).
we were ready to give up, but pressed onwards and eventually found our footing and made our way to the Knitting Factory. the show turned out to be undoubtably the best of the tour--the crowd was so into it and therefore so were we . . .
post-show re-cap: i took sean and ryan to see Ground Zero / WTC site (i implore all of you to take half an hour and watch the movie "Loose Change." it'll change your perspective--go to this link: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7866929448192753501). then we moved onto the Dakota Building, where 'Rosemary's Baby' was filmed and where John Lennon was killed--gaslights and Central Park, then we trecked through Times Square to see the big city lights before departing the island.
oh yeah, and we said goodbye to the Jonezetta fellows. i think we're actually going to miss them.
