Hello,
Wow, I just got word that 'Once' is #3 on the weekly overall charts on http://www.canadianmusic.com, which is Canada's Indie103 radio site !
What was more surprising is that I have 5 songs on the acoustic charts, numbers 1 through 5 ! Seems weird, but you can't vote for yourself, I have no 'friends' there, it's a free site, so I don't know how that happened...
Anyway, it's a pretty cool site with a lot of great music from Canada. I'm there because of family ties in Quebec, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Check it out if you have a chance, and a vote wouldn't hurt either if you like the songs.
Take Care,
Matt

Hi,
I hope you had a wonderful holiday, and please accept my best wishes for a safe, healthy, happy and successful New Year!
I've been doing some pre-production work on 'Helmets For Everyday Living' and have posted a new song called 'Charcoal' and reposted new versions of 'Once' and 'Austin.'
For a limited time, I am offering all of my music for download free of charge.
All I ask is that you sign up as a Fan or a Friend, if you are not already, and maybe tell a few friends to do the same.
Hope you enjoy the new songs, and your comments are always welcome!
Best Regards,
Matt

Charcoal
The light fades, a charcoal drawing smudged and shadowed
We wait for this, expecting nothing else, but least expecting
Await she does, like movement in the corners
Like the whispers in the scream
Along the pond bottom, silt and decay
No one else sees what you see
But see it all the same
No one feels the way you do,
Though we all feel the same thing
How the dark inevitably turns to bright light,
as a beacon to something thats not really there
Something well never see, but always think we do
Time and shadow, death and glory, meaningless history
Meaningful to so few, not recognized nor thought of by the world
Is this the meaning of the future, that we will never be there
Except in chemical form in someones head
Or maybe in things that would have no meaning to anyone else but you
A fragile likeness of paper and color, more fragile than the soul itself
This is what we are and how we are remembered.
Until someone forgets, or chooses to ignore.

Once (Matt McKay)
I once heard
Some things
I couldnt hear
I once saw
Some things
I couldnt see
I once knew
Some things
I didnt know
I once said
Some things
I should have said
I once felt
Some things
I cannot feel
I once went
To a place
I cannot go
I once read
That there
Was life somewhere
Someone said
It didnt
Have to be this way
