Makeshift quickly rose to popularity shortly after forming in 2002, but they have proven over the last 3 years that they were not just a flash in the pan. A mere 6 months after playing their first show, Makeshift had some impressive accomplishments to put on their resume: winning a statewide band competition hosted by Chilkoot Charlie's & KWHL, recording and releasing a complely independent full length album, and opening for multi-platinum Godsmack at the Sullivan Arena. Not just content to sit back on previous accomplishments, Makeshift has constantly forged ahead and pushed themselves to create even better music.
Some of this music caught the ear of Ardent Studios producer Jason Latshaw, who, in the fall of 2004, flew to Anchorage and recorded a 3-song demo with the band. This demo proved to open even more doors for Makeshift, most significantly of which was regular airplay on local radio stations KWHL, KAFC and KZND
Currently, Makeshift is putting the finishing touches on another full-length album, entitled "The Measure Of Who We Are," which will be hitting the street sometime this spring. This new record, featuring 12 new songs from the band, is their most aggressive and diverse project yet and is sure to be a huge fan favorite. Stay tuned to Makeshift and watch as they continue to take Alaska by storm!
