When a new band hits the scene, its usually not that hard to stick them into a pre-defined musical style niche, and then walk away and forget about them. No such luck with LUMA, a four-piece band out of Oklahoma City. LUMA is not so simply pigeon-holed as alternative, emo, punk or hard rock. From pure and straightforward to intricate and complex; from smokin riffs and anthemic choruses to heartrending ballads and unforgettable melodies, they convey the essence of what rocknroll was always meant to be: Unapologetically honest lyrics, hooks that grab you and dont let go, a thick-as-thieves rhythm section, and a melody that you cant get out of your head.
Hunter Goodman (vocals), brothers Stephen and Marcus Collins (guitar and bass), and Adam Chamberlain (drums) started playing together in the Winter of 2003. They soon decided to begin pursuing a mainstream music career as LUMA. The foursome made an inspired song-writing team, and began developing numerous originals as they continued playing covers for different events across the country in Las Vegas, Omaha, Nashville, and Oklahoma City. LUMA stepped into the studio in the fall of 2005 to record an initial five-song EP, expected to release in mid 2006.
The noise has already started swelling about LUMA, and they have begun garnering a loyal following in the process. Claiming influences such as U2, Audioslave, Switchfoot, Coldplay, Delirious, and Incubus, the music that these four write will stand the test of time. As a wider audience is exposed to the power of LUMAs live performance, their following is sure to grow.
