"I try not to sound like a typical girl singer," said Seeliger, who ties her powerful, but whimsy vocals back to some childhood loves. "I always used to listen to a lot of Elton John, Sheryl Crowe, 90s-pop music, which wasn't this kind of stuff." Seeliger can't label what that "stuff," in fact, is, but it's certainly not Elton John. "We do our own thing," says Seeliger. "We don't censor ourselves. We just make music that doesn't happen to sound like everything else." It's a sound and image that was immediately met with some shallow feedback. "A lot of occasions in the early days, people would come up, just take a picture (of Seeliger) and walk away," says guitarist Mike Foti. "They didn't take the female front seriously."

But Seeliger and the rest of the foursome don't rely on their novelty. They continuously push for new sounds, as the disparity between their two in-studio tracks "By a Fraction" and "You Horrible Wretch" puts on display. "Fraction" is a harder track driven by power chords, Mike McDuffee's bass work and Seeliger's gushy vocals; the loungier, poppier "Wretch" could follow-up the B-52's "Love Shack" or almost any Jet song on a mix CD.

Yes, they're that diverse.

"We always try to prove ourselves with substance and I think we do," says Foti. "Our live show is really intense." "I think people interpret it based on the music and not on the image after a while," Seelinger says. "People's responses are very positive." Now, this band that formed out of necessity because they "thought it would be funny," are seeking label support. They can't believe how close they are, or how far they've come. "We say that every couple of minutes," Foti says, on how they've never dreamed of being in a situation like this. "It just progressively got more serious and we're going to keep going. Because, really, it hasn't stopped being fun."

Paradise Show CANCELLED!

so for reasons that i assure you are positive and not negative, we dropped off the paradise show, i know thats two shows in a row but believe me thats just a coincidence... we arent trying to pull anything. We have a cool "give-away" type thing that is going to be announced soon as well as some other stuff going on that you will hear about sooner or later.

All in all, dont think because we are cancelling a couple shows that we arent doing anything ;)

Big City Bug will stay up!

So we decided we will keep Big City Bug up as an exclusive track on Purevolume ONLY! rather than just keeping it up for the week. Yep, that means our entire 3 Song EP is available for your listening pleasure across the internet (myspace and purevolume ARE the internet).

Keep coming back because we may make it available for download again, or maybe Chou Chou for that matter... we'll see.

Purevolume Updated!

So we haven't updated our purevolume site since the word 'trousers' was 'in'. So I decided to get with the times and give it a lil facelift. BOTOX maybe? Well anyway, there a ton of new pictures from recent shows taken by our friend Dan Gonyea (www.myspace.com/futurebreed) who does some of the best work around, as well as an updated list of our upcoming shows.

We also decided to put up a track that has only been available on our recent 3 song EP recorded by Mike Poorman (Paulson/Piebald/TREOS/Fly Upright Kite/Therefore I Am, and so many other amazing bands) but it will be up for THIS WEEK ONLY! so check it out while you can let us know what you think!
