Lucky For Nothing was formed in the beginning of 2003 by Spokane-born Rick Hanson (guitar/vocals), Kelly Sites (bass) of Auburn, Wash., and Butte, MT natives David Henrich (guitar/vocals) and Leo C. Martin (drums). In this lineup, Lucky For Nothing wrote and recorded two independent CDs, 2003s self-titled release and 2004s Casualties of Love and War, which sold 1,000 copies each.
In the fall of 2004, Henrich and the group parted ways amicably. Continuing on as a trio, the band spent the majority of 2005 playing shows, building their local following, while writing what was to become their third CD, Look Beneath. After spending the winter recording, the group took the project to acclaimed producer Martin Feveyear (Queens of the Stone Age, Mudhoney, Amber Pacific) to be mixed and mastered.
Look Beneath was released in January of 2006 and has sold 1,600 copies independently at shows and online.
The band has spent a great deal of time on the road this year with such notable bands as Amber Pacific, The Classic Crime, Paramore, The Audition, All Time Low, and Just Surrender. The band lives to tour and plans to do so even more in 2007. With the recent addition of longtime friend, Matt Zepp of Great Falls, MT on guitar and vocals, the band is set to spend the winter writing and recording, then hitting the road again in the spring.
