Neon
yeah, so i was painting my nails neon green and i sorta thought of this. haha.
all men are the same, she thinks
as she picks up the bottle of neon
of a green so bright it should blind
and she begins to spread it on
the polish envelopes her fragile nails
the jagged shards of edges bathed in light
maybe this will deter my suitors, she thinks
as she marches out into the night
all eyes seem to turn to her
strutting around in her alluring dress
she's determined to escape their stares
all men are such a mess
striding into a tiny bar
she takes her usual corner seat
and waits patiently for the night to dissolve
so as to evade the men she's bound to meet
she's not afraid she'll never love, no
not now, not tomorrow, not ever
but when faced with guys either cheesy or unfeeling
she'd rather be alone forever
so she'll sit and avoid as best she can
and listen to all the pick-up lines
but she'll never fall for one, oh no
she's not one who succumbs to wine (heehee)
but then a new one comes along
who at first seems the same as the rest
he sits himself down in the too-small chair
and she averts her eyes from her guest
still, he says nothing, and continues to sit
seeming too shy to speak a word
then he opens his mouth and out comes, 'nice nails'
she can't believe what she's just heard
surprised at his odd charm, she laughs
and out comes her beautiful smile
then he blazes his and she's finally hooked
and they talk for quite a while
and this time when she's walking home she's not so alone
she's got her hand in his
her blazing green nails shine through his fingers
and her life is sealed with a kiss
