My State of the Union Address
So, yeah, like most people, I disagree with many things the President is doing for this country. Don't get me wrong, I think it was great that we mobilized our troops into action so quickly after the 9/11 attacks, and just as quickly when we recieved intelligence that Iraq was holding WMD's, but I think we've overstayed our welcome. Their government is set up, ours is collapsing around us. Bush needs to get his shit together and support the country he leads, rather than trying to give an impressive air to the rest of the world. Nobody is impressed. It makes me sick when he stands on his podium and rages on and on about how if we pull out, the terrorists will win. WE HAVE ALREADY FUCKING WON!!! Good lord, I was not convinced of this man's ignorance until recently when the democratically controlled Congress tried to pass a bill that would put a deadline in effect for a troop removal. He actually made threats, real, solid threats to the proposers. Who does that? Surely not the President of the United States. Now, you will never hear me say that I hate this country. I love this country with all my heart. Give me a cause I believe in and I'd gladly go to war. One thing that pisses me off though, is these "punk" kids that bitch and moan about the government and don't even know anything that's going on beside the fact that over half of America disapproves of Bush. Green Day caught and jumped on this bandwagon early and are now riding the capitolist fame train. The lyrics to American Idiot are just proof that the members of Green Day are American Idiots. They don't know shit about shit, and they realized that if they make out with eachother on stage, and wear enough make up, then nobody will actually listen to their music. I'm convinced Green Day is the worst band in the history of the world. But, I digress, back to these "punk" kids. These fuckers call this country Fascist! That is the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard. This country is by no means Fascist. Fascism, by definition is: *a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.* Now, call me crazy, but that sounds nothing like our country. George Bush is nowhere near a dictator, and even if he tried to take control he would fail because he's too damn dumb. Our government is set up to where no one branch will have more power than another, so out goes that requisite. We have successfully dealt with opposition, but in no way have we "forcibly suppressed" it. And criticism sure as hell isn't being suppressed. Industry is nowhere near controlled by the government, and neither is commerce. And for the last bit, everyone is encouraged to be a Patriot, but not everyone is and that's alright. This country is not a racist country, either. There is racism in parts of the country, but this country, as a whole, is not a racist country. I think many things should be reformed, like our ideas of censorship in music. I understand why there is censorship on television. I wouldn't want my kids (when they come along) to see a quarter of the shit that's on television these days. But I don't think artists should be restricted from saying what they want to say on their own albums. I'm fine with that as long as they know what they are talking about.
