The world of today works with the pull of a lever With gears and pulleys that cannot sever A day long gone over the stacks of smoke where one could breathe and not choke. Since Columbus sailed the ocean blue the focus has always been to make a buck or two At the exploitation of women and children the world keeps spinnen Their expectations are of robots condemned to work until their hearts are stopped When their hearts are gone another one takes its place The sound of grinding gears rings out all through the night spare parts that litter the floor is all that is in sight Those who resisted were dragged out from their homes their will broken till their hearts were as cold as stones We rely solely on invention and urbanization believing that it carries good intension The only intension I see is that of the dollar sign at the expense of lives like yours and mine. Those tears fall in vain for those who fought for this country if all that it stands for is hate and disdain The question I send is when will this type of life end?
