hazy bishanGrassroots volunteers of the    construct Peoples Association (PA) will be distributing N95 masks on Friday,25 September 2015, from 10am to 10pm at all 108 Community Clubs islandwide.

These masks will be given to vulnerable and needy Singaporeans and Singapore PRs with blue CHAS Card or Pioneer Generation Card, as well as ComCare recipients above 62 or with longer term medical issues, the PA said on its website.

PA Grassroots Volunteers will also organise home visits to residents who are immobile or sick as well as elderly with medical conditions and living alone.

The PA said it is also opening its air-conditioned rooms in its Residents Committees and Community Clubs to members of the public who may seek respite from the haze which has engulfed Singapore again. The PSI readings reached the hazardous level on Thursday.

Also on Thursday, Ms Fion Phuas Facebook post calling on the PA to open its air-conditioned rooms had gone viral, with many giving the thumbs up to the suggestion. (See here.)

Chipping in to help provide shelter are also 14 libraries across Singapore.

The National Library Board said on Friday that these libraries will open its doors from 9am, instead of the usual 10am, for those who may seek shelter from the smog. (See here for the list of libraries.)
