The formation of Showbread, the meaning and other stuff about Showbread

Posted July 10, 2006

The conception of Showbread took place in the hearts of several boys in southeast Georgia, burdened by a divine call to make music. The name Showbread was called on to describe a praise and worship band created by Patrick and Joshua "Dies" Porter. After facing rejection from the southern church circuit for dabbling with rock and roll, they summoned up the most honest and passionate music lying dormant within them.

When Jesus was questioned about straying from laws and traditionalism, he used the story of David eating the Showbread in the holy temple to illustrate his point. So the name stood proud before the brotherhood of music, thus deciding Showbread must assume it's rightful role as an original incarnation of music imbedded within the group by a higher power. Therein began the evolution of Showbread.

For four years after it's formation, and through all the member changes and development, Showbread now vandalizes the MTV generation with an undoubtedly original kind of music. Infectious as it is unique, this is unmistakable RAW ROCK. Chaotic and unpredictable, raw rock finds a beat and infects you before it's spastic psychosis tears you apart. Railing in convulsions as it screeches to insane speeds, pulverizing with blistering and anthemic rock and roll, then lulling off sweetly with beautiful melody. The energy and insanity level Showbread brings to life on stage comes through in the realness of their music. Known for the intensity of their brutal live performance, they truly channel the emotion that encompasses a room filled with the blood from their hearts. Terrorizing the countryside with words from the soul of the suffering, bitter and cynical satire, and the solution of hope and peace. The refreshing authenticity of Showbread's RAW ROCK is as solid as the their calling to keep it going.
