Training has taken me here
Only combat I have to fear
Stuck in this muddy rut
Shoulder against my rifle butt
Home and Family stuck in suspense
Thinking of you when combat is tense
Like soldier like brother,
Killing the other.
Contempt for an enemy
Emotions are smothered
War was always portrayed to be great
Fueled by the fighting held by their fate
Feelings withheld to show no mistake
Bullets are fired for enemies to make
The wounded will get it the dead may not
Theres a far worse thing than just being shot.
Security in war is hard to find
Lonesome and lifeless,
