Could you?
Why is it that I feel so impoverished when I am running low on something so trivial as money, while this girl is near empty on something far more crucial and basic? With a vulture watching intently for her nearing death, this two year old struggles to reach a food station. Why is my journey for food so abbreviated in comparison to hers? Why can I eat so commonly that it reaches the point of extravagance, while there are organisms of my own brand that dont eat for days on end? Was I chosen because I am somehow better than them? Most definitely not. Every time I see this image I question myself on the level of my character. How can I justify living with such an ease, that I know others are not so blessed to have? How could I justify acquiring food with such an ease, that I know others are not so blessed to have? How could i justify living beyond comfort and satifaction, while I know that nearly 5.6 million childrern die every year of malnutrition? I couldn't.
Where Is The Love??
My new favorite song is "where is the love" by the black eyed peas, i didnt think that i like them, but this guy sang it at a show a couple nights ago, and as soon as i got home i listened to it like fifty five billion times, and it has a good message, talking about how cruel humans are to each other. We need to be more accepting of people, no matter their race, country, or class. In America we dont usually get to see the full effects of discrimination, although some people and places are unfortunantley subject to have a front row seat to murders, fights, and rapes that happen because of insecurities, hate, discrimination, and fueds that are wrongfully started and only stay alive because they are fed by people that are willing to rape, steal, and kill for their inadequate cause. This song asks "where is the love?" and i think they are referring to the love that is instilled in us from the day that we are born, as an infant, we have no discrimintation, and no bias against any human, but somwhere along the line people lose that innocent sight, and develop a sense that was not meant to be. As soon as we can find that "love" this world will be a better place, and i hope to see that day come.
