I'm Tara, I'm Seventeen.
I am a senior in high school
..But not for much longer :D

I am so ready to go off to college

Experience has been the biggest learning factor in my life. Due to my stubborn nature, I gain knowledge by withstanding circumstances on my own, not by being persuaded or listening to the advice of others around me. I think and I feel more deeply and genuinely than most and I tend to bottle my emotions until I'm able to clearly formulate them into words, or not at all. I'm stronger than I ever realized I could be, and I know that's a result of everything I've encountered in my life. As challenging and.. unrelenting as they might have been, I will never regret even one. Without them, I wouldn't be the person I am now..

Although I feel that putting others before myself isn't entirely a bad trait, there are times where I have to do what's best for me and my personal well-being.. no matter who it potentially hurts or offends.

Like everyone else, I value my friendships. "A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out." I've had enough friends come and go in my life to recognize what a true friend is. There are some of you who have been really great, and I'm very thankful for that. All I could ask for is to be able to surround myself with good people (although I've found that really hard to do in Saint Louis). I don't have time for your petty high school drama. Grow up or take it somewhere else.

Relationships haven't proven themselves to be as successful as I would have liked. I understand now that you can't keep your heart from feeling emotion, and you can't really control who you fall for. I've also realized my heart isn't a very dependable resource, for the reason that it's often blinded by illusive emotions portrayed by another person. The conclusion I've come to, is that following my head is the most safeguarded way to go. I don't expect love to be easy to find, by any means, but one can only take so many disappointments before the desire for love begins to seem.. fanciful. I'm young, and I've been hurt. I've already gained so much insight on what it is I truelyy deserve that I'm not going to settle for second best, runner up, or “good enough for now”. Show me someone that can genuinely sweep me off my feet, and I'll show them the love that I'm capable of giving. Until then, don't bother wasting my time with your ulterior motives. I'm not interested in playing games.

Each morning when I open my eyes, I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make myself happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it's going to be. Yesterday is over, and tomorrow hasn't even arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
