What is faith? A question asked by people all the time. The most common asnwer I've heard is "believing in what you cannot see". It's true, but I don't think that's all there is to faith.
Yes, we believe in God, we can't see him, we trust in him. But faith, the faith we should have, should be more than just believing.
WHy are the muslims so respected? Why does everyone get mad at an Islamic joke, but everyone laughs at the jokes made against Christians? Here's what I think is the answer: Faith.
The muslims have so much regard for Allah and Mohammed that if we say one thing bad about them, they fly over and bomb us. That's powerful faith. Christians, we barely even stand up for God in public. I'm not saying that nobody proclaims Jesus, but it really does take more than a WWJD wristband, a purity ring, and a Christian T-shirt.
Real faith, the faith we should have in God, should be incredible faith. The other religions should be blown away at the devotion we have for Him. But do we now? No. How many people have you met that say their a Christian, but don't even go to church? That's how Christianity started getting mocked in the first place. Maybe if churches had a more personal relationship with each of the members, those people would be at church.
My definition of faith: Leaving behind EVERYTHING you have, everything you put your trust in, and putting it all in God.
That means throwing away your dreams, your life, your money, your friendships, everything you have.
God gave me a mental picture while I was thinking about this. There was a person standing on a ship, like a pirate ship, and they were blind folded with their hands tied behind their back. The person then walked out onto the plank. There was super thick fog underneath the plank, so thick you couldn't even see through it. God wanted the person on the plank to jump, but they were afraid of what was beneath the fog.
Faith means giving God your insecurities. Giving God what you're most afraid of, and taking the leap of faith which might just be into that thing that you fear the most.
Faith also means giving God what you're comfortable with. If you're comfortable with singing quietly during worship, God is gonna want you to put your faith in HIm, and He may want you to dance. WIll you do it? Will you stand up and show God that you're proclaiming Him and your faith in Him?
Thats all for now, just felt like sharing that with yous alls.
ILY
