What is there to talk about
I saw that a memorial was built for Pat Tillman, who played safety for the Arizona Cardinals. He walked away from the NFL to fight in the army. He was killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan. He gave up life to defend the freedom that we take for granted every day. He was "living the life" but felt it more important to be in the army and fight for freedom.
One thing we have to keep in mind. Every day, US soldiers are being killed overseas. It seems like the American opinion is against the war. Whether or not you support to war you need to support the troops. One of the saddest things is for people not to appreciate what the soldiers are doing for us. What these men and women are dying for is freedom. Thats what the minutemen in the American Revolution did. Thats what the GIs did. The soldiers should be treated the same.
What the troops are doing is called self-sacrifice. It is very important to remember that. They are giving there lives for us, just like this other guy I know. This guy came from the best place ever to earth. He loved us so much that he gave his life for us. He gave us freedom when we didn't deserve at all. we should be sent to hell. But instead, he died so we could spend eternity in Heaven, sharing in the inheritance that God gave to us. When we turn are backs and ignore what he did, it hurts him and its passing up the most incredible offer. We did nothing, yet we get to live with the creator of all living things. This guy is Jesus Christ. He died a one of the most horrible deaths ever invented because he loved us so much and he wanted to give us freedom from our sin.
When we look at what Christ has done for us, we can only be amazed. There is nothing else that compares to what he has done for us. But the United States soldiers have given us a picture of what he did. They gave his life for us. The soldiers deserve our undying gratefulness. Jesus Christ deserves our thanks and our faith that we will guide our steps if we believe in him.
Pat Tillman was an incredible man. He, to me, is an example of the unselfishness that can be found in a perfect form through Jesus Christ.
Support our Troops. Follow God. And God Bless America
