DISplace Me!

Social Action Team Go!

I'm sure you guys have heard about the genocide that has been going on for twenty years over in Uganda, Africa. If you haven't let me drop some knowledge on you. The Lords Resistance Army (LRA), a crazy christian cult, has waged a war on the Acholi people, while the Ugandan military tried to crush the LRA with brute force. The situation is complicated, as the LRA abducts Acholi children, to turn them into child soldiers and sex slaves or their commanders. Just imagine six year olds running around with guns killing people because they fear for their lifes. It's not a pretty thing to think about it at all. What is the Ugandan goverment doing to save these children. Well in the '90s in order to "help" the children they set up displacement camps. Camps in which they are separated from their family and friends. Camps in which they have to walk at least nine miles to get to the next safety zone each day. Camps in which they are not provided any food and are starving to death. These displacement camps are going nothing for the children of Uganda. Most times the camps are invaded by the LRA and chlidren are killed and kidnapped. There needs to be something done about this tragedy in Africa that is happening before out eyes. Ten dollars can feed a family for four months! If everyone who could send in ten dollars did, think of how many families would be feed. Do anything you can do help the helpless. Write letters to your senator, start a club at your school, send money to organizations that help the people of Uganda. Take part in Social Action!

I've seen better days...

My first blog entry.

Today was just kinda... 'blah'. Ya know where nothing amazing happens and it's just a day where you wake up go to school and go home. Accept today was worse than 'blah'. It was simply shitty. You see this weekend I was suppose to go to a MCR concert that was here in Houston on Saturday. But I couldn't go. My dad said no. No. NO! No matter how much I begged. After telling everyone that I was gonna go... it just hurt to be at school today without stories of how amazing it was. I tried to keep my mind off of it today by laughing at little nothings that lightened up my day. Nothing really working the way I prefered. I was happy for the while that I was around exciting friends that made my day. Scottie, Sarah, Val, and Ari. Four people who are just prone to making my day better no matter what... Scottie with him playful assholeness. Sarah with her outgoing partying. Val with her awesome ranty rants on the world. And Ari with her wonderfulness. Four of my favorite people in the world you could say. They make me smile.

All in all today ended better than it was.
