I wish this cat was up on Purevolume.com, but unfortunately that is not the case yet. Flame, a CMR rap artist from St. Loius, has really become one of my absolute favorites. His music first caught my attention during Creation Fest East 2002 when he made a guest appearence on stage with the Cross Movement. This was well before he signed with Cross Movement Records and put out his first CMR album. My first impressions of his music were that he had a good voice, rhymed well, and had great focus in his lyrics.
What most impresses me about his music is his lyrical content. His love for Christ, love for mankind, love for the deeper things of Scripture, love for truth, and his intellect clearly come through in virtually every song. If you love theology and love people, then you will love his music (assuming you like rap/hip-hop). Another thing I like is that Flame is not afraid to defend the truth and combat false teaching in his songs. To top that off, he flows very, very well and has quality beats that are up to current industry standards. He doesn't just rap about theology and apologetics, though, as his aim is actually application-based. He writes songs about things people struggle with in life and also songs of encouragement and songs that even spur you on to good works. One of his biggest themes is showing people their need for a Savior. He even has a song about the art and science of how to interpret Scripture correctly--sweet! Flame's music is both good for edifying believers and also reaching out to the lost.

The latest album by LeCrae, his first project on Cross Movement Records, is very, very good. He flows and rhymes with the best of them, while having focused and outreach-oriented lyrics laced to beats anyone can bounce to. I love the entire album.
