When they come for me, I'll be sitting at my desk, with a gun in my hand, wearing a bulletproof vest.. Singing "my, my, my, how the time does fly, when you know you're going to die by the end of the night."
-Tomas Kalnoky (SKA genius)
It was amazing. the "best night of my life". it was truely amazing. im at a loss for words.... im being really cliche....
I'm finally gonna be able to go a streetlight manifesto show!
july 16, The webster theater, Hartford.
i'm going with the asciotis, and theyre wicked cool kids.
i'm wicked excited.
I just remembered/ found out again, that Mustard Plug was coming to the Webster last Tuesday! I wouldn't have been able to go, but i would have my own little Mustard Plug concert, by listening to all their CDs i have....
Yea.... work got in the way of me posting one after the show...but now that im done with work, I can write one! The show was pretty damn good. the first band, "Axis of Evil," was pretty kick ass. They did a song that had something to do with condoms.... also, one of the trombone players happpens to be the bf of this family friend of mine. i saw her there. the next band was a band called "westbound train." They were sort of a regaae/2nd wave ska band, so i wasn't too into them. i guess they had talent, but it just wasn't my type of ska.... the next band was suburband legends. i had heard of them, throught the asciotiis before, but never heard any. they pretty much kick some serious ass. since they worked for disney world before, all their songs are choreographed. the chereographing was obviously meant for just the the horn players, but, because of the passing of dallas cook (R.I.P.), the singer filled his place. their last song was a ska cover of "under the sea." It was pretty sweet. then came the voodoo glow skulls, who, again i heard a lot about but never heard before. they were sorta like yelly angyr ska, so i didnt;t like it much. but they definatly had talent. you couldn't understand one word the singer was saying, even when there was no other music. then went on the headliners, "big d and the kids table." they were the best recieved band. during their hit song "LA X" there was a huge skank pit, which was actually more like moshing. at one point, a guy bent over, and was pushed into lower gut, head on. it was sorta tough to pay attention to the band, when youre life is in danger. i bought the suburband legends best cd "rumb shaker" and a big d sticker. i got a free suburban legends sticker, but i somehow lost it. all in all, my first ska show was pretty kick ass.
Howdy y'all! Today, me, and my my freinds sam, dom, and frank ascioti, are going to a "summer of ska tour" show at the webster theater. Bands include: BIG D AND THE KIDS TABLE, VOODOO GLOW SKULLS, SUBUBURBAN LEGENDS, and WESTBOUND TRAIN. It's 4:05 now, and ill be leaving soon. im really siked (sp?)! i can't wait. my first real ska concert! woot!
Oh yeah, my goal for the upcoming school year is to become recognized as "the ska kid"
ill post another blog after the show.
peace
